Jackson Energy has an opening for a full-time Fleet Safety Manager position at our corporate office located in Meridian, ID. This position will have primary responsibility with Jackson Energy, but will also support Capitol Distributing, a sister company. This position’s primary focus will be to manage the fleet safety and risk management functions, programs, and initiatives. This will be accomplished by developing and implementing comprehensive safety and training programs in conjunction with company operations, as well as with other individuals within and outside the organization to include safety, insurance, and Human Resources. They will also initiate and manage the investigation of employee and customer incidents and injuries. Safety-related regulatory compliance is a critical component to the success of the company, and this position is responsible for ensuring this compliance.

The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to:
•Develops, updates, and manages workplace safety policies and procedures, in conjunction with designated individuals.
•Coordinates with company individuals to lead the fleet safety committee meetings and initiatives.
•Maintains designated safety manuals, including all components of DOT, EPA, DHS, Hazmat, and OSHA mandated programs and training.
•Establishes and maintains appropriate safety and training records, including, DOT and Hazmat training.
•Compiles and analyzes DOT related data for review in periodic safety updates.
•Monitors and maintains DOT, EPA, and OSHA compliance, to include reporting, training, and compliant investigations and resolutions.
•Investigates driver employee injuries to identify root cause and accident/injury prevention. Coordinates with Human Resources on worker’s compensation claims for the specific areas of responsibility.
•Stay abreast of DOT regulatory changes affecting safety as it affects Jackson Energy and Capitol from the federal, and state levels.
•Ensures compliance with all company, client, DOT, and OSHA regulations, policies and procedures, including assistance with Driver Qualification File compliance.
•Audits electronic logs for violations, unassigned miles, and speeding violations.
•Available to respond 24-7 to respond/assist with accidents, injuries or incidents.
•Conduct truck safety inspections and site visits.
•Provide input regarding worthiness to hire during the hiring of new drivers, and overseeing the new hire fleet safety training.
•Other duties and tasks as assigned.

The qualified candidate will have at least five years’ experience in Safety, DOT and Hazmat regulatory compliance, and a Bachelor’s degree is safety management or similar area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. They must have a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation. Must have in-depth knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations. Being self-motivated, organized and having strong attention to detail are essential traits. Must have the ability to travel at a minimum 30-40% of the time as required by company operations. Ability to work and effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization. Must be proficient in MS Office, to include Outlook and Excel, along with data analysis and reporting tools.
