SHOW INFORMATION:
Eurydice
Written by Sarah Ruhl
Directed by Nicole Neely
March 31st - April 2nd and April 7th April 9th

SYNOPSIS:
Sarah Ruhl reimagines the classic myth of Orpheus through the eyes of its heroine. After dying on her wedding day, she must adjust to life in the underworld and make a choice that will determine her fate. In Eurydice, we explore the themes of death, love, memory, and the importance of family.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

Eurydice (20s-early 30s): Romantic and thoughtful, she is in love with Orpheus but thinks often of her father who has passed on.
Orpheus (20s-30s): Hopelessly romantic, incredibly musical. He travels to the underworld to rescue Eurydice. Musical ability is a plus.

Father (40s-60s): Lives in the underworld. Attempts to communicate with Eurydice and when given the chance, patiently attempts to rebuild their bond.

Nasty Interesting Man/Lord of the Underworld (20s-40s): Nasty and childish, craves Eurydice. Hates Orpheus.

Chorus of stones (3 people): Must be excellent character actors. Stays onstage always, acts as an emcee of sorts. They live in the underworld, Sarah Ruhl compares them to nasty children at a birthday party.

REHEARSALS will begin February 20, 2017 and will be held Monday-Thursday evenings in Denton, with the possibility of adding a Friday before tech week. There is a mandatory tech rehearsal on Sunday, April 23rd.

PERFORMANCES will be at the Point Bank Black Box Theatre, March 31st - April 2nd and April 7th April 9th. There is no stipend for actors or production team members.
