Your five or more years of experience in all surgical services will aid you in performing the following procedures: Pre-Operative, Perioperative, PACU and Scrub minor procedures. As our Surgical Services nurse, you will not only perform in surgery, but also in other departmental procedures, such as Charge Nurse. Your assistance in other departments within the hospital, will be required, as well. Importantly, you must be able to take 15 to 16 days of call per month for after-hours procedures. To succeed in this role, your expertise will encompass the following specialties: Gastroenterology, Podiatry, Orthopedic, General, Ophthalmology, Gynecology, Dentals, Rehab, ENT and Bronchoscopy.
To qualify, you should hold an Associate’s degree from an accredited school of nursing, and possess BLS, ACLS and PALS certification. CNOR certification, while not required, is preferred. RN licensure in the state of Texas is mandatory. Recent experience must include: thoracentesis, paracentesis, CT biopsy, pre-, post- and circulate, heart caths, Lexl, stress test and circulate, and C-sections. Knowledge of the physiological and psychological response to surgical intervention is key to functioning well in this role.
