The Company is headquartered in Muncie, IN, but the role will be located in the Detroit, Michigan area. Chassis Powertrain Engineer Detroit, Michigan
In this essential role, you will document technical data obtained from visits to truck, powertrain and chassis manufacturers for the purposes of product development and improvement. Working in tandem with the Product Manager(s) of PTO & Electronics, Hydraulics, etc., and Tulsa Engineering, you will champion new products for the market. This entails assisting with prototype product placement and evaluation. Finally, you’ll team up with Sales, Customer Service Managers, Zone Sales Managers and Market Specialists in ensuring a successful launch each and every time.
To qualify, you should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Tech, or Industrial Engineering, and possess a minimum of five to seven years’ experience in the design of gears, gearboxes, or powertrains. Experience in on-highway powertrain systems is key. A background in industrial or manufacturing sales and marketing is highly preferred, as is Six Sigma Black Belt certification. Additionally, you will bring knowledge of applicable industry trends, advanced math skills with an innate ability to comprehend related abstract principles, and expertise with CAD tools to this role. Importantly, you must be able to travel to meetings, trade shows, site visits, and inspections.* A current CDL Class A license or willingness to obtain for the purposes of test-driving heavy trucks when needed is also required. Some scheduling flexibility is expected. You must work well with others and communicate effectively. Demonstrated self-motivation, an inquisitive mindset and a strong desire to succeed are crucial!
