Geotechnical Construction Project Manager Houston, Texas
As our client’s Geotechnical Construction Project Manager, you will champion the planning, execution, evaluation and overall management of multiple geotechnical projects. You will assume the direct execution of all aspects of projects, including: pre-bid meetings, proposal preparations, project start-up, contract management, change order management, resource loading, project cost controls, material buy-out, subcontractor management, cash flow management and change order negotiations. Reporting to the Geotechnical Program Manager, you will assume responsibility for estimating, negotiating contracts, and project management—including direct supervision of multiple project teams and quality control management for the Geotechnical Division.
To qualify, you should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline. The equivalent in relevant work experience will be considered, as well. Our client seeks a minimum of five years of geotechnical project management experience, with accompanying knowledge of deep foundations, earth retention and ground improvement. Your background must showcase proficient understanding of construction equipment, techniques, drawings, specifications, building materials, design and geotechnical work. Importantly, your resume must reveal demonstrated, progressive increase in financial and supervisory accountability and authority, along with proficiency in bidding. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook and Project, are musts.
Travel (20% to 30%) to geotechnical construction sites will be required. This is a hands-on, “boots-in-the-dirt” position. You must be willing to work on sites containing exposure to dust, noise, toxic materials, waste and infectious materials, as well as inclement weather. The ideal candidate will be physically able to perform heavy lifting and climbing, operate motorized equipment and vehicles, work in confined spaces or at considerable heights, and around heavy construction equipment.
