CAE Project Engineer - Powertrain and Vehicle Simulation
Auburn Hills, MI
In this essential role, you will conduct various CAE projects in the area of powertrain and vehicle simulation. Areas of focus may include multi-body dynamics simulation of engine systems (cranktrain, valvetrain, etc.,) driveline and vehicle dynamics, linear/non-linear Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of powertrain and vehicle components, fatigue analysis and 1D simulation of hydraulic systems, lubrication circuits, drivelines, and vehicle performance. Your tasks will all be carried out with a goal of supporting the development and application of advanced powertrain and vehicle technologies. Importantly, you will rely on your technical expertise to generate creative and innovative solutions to customer problems, and your excellent interpersonal skills to effectively present results and recommendations.
To qualify, you should hold a Bachelor’s degree Engineering (a Master’s is preferred) and possess up to ten years of project-simulation experience using multi-body dynamics simulation tools such as ADAMS, FEV Virtual Engine, Excite and/or 1D simulation tools, including AMESM, GT-Suite, and Matlab/Simulink. Your background should also encompass work with thermo-mechanical and/or NVH analysis, and optimization of powertrain components and/or sub-systems using FEA with tools such as Hypermesh/Simlab, ABAQUS, and NASTRAN. FEMFAT or other commercially available fatigue software experience is a strong plus. You must have a demonstrated understanding of structural mechanics/dynamics, heat transfer, fatigue, and NVH principles. An obvious interest in, and knowledge of, powertrain and vehicle systems is a must!
If you are interested in joining a team of experienced engineers and designers creating advanced diesel and gasoline engine designs to address future performance, fuel economy and emissions requirements, FEV is where you want to be.

Take your career from zero to sixty! Apply today, by sending your resume and letter of interest. Please be sure to specify, “CAE Project Engineer - Powertrain and Vehicle Simulation” in the subject line.
