Risk Control Engineer
Jersey City, NJ
As an accomplished Risk Control Engineer, you will rely on your highly developed knowledge of fire protection systems, building construction, loss control, and related disciplines, as you provide risk analysis, development of policies and practices, and conduct ongoing research. Specifically, you will provide technical support and guidance for the development of new and enhanced products, support in the development of loss control policies and practices, and assistance in the maintenance of associated technical resources. You’ll also explore new methods and techniques, and/or uncover sources of information related to fire ignition, sustainment and extinguishment.
To qualify, you should hold a four-year college degree in fire protection, or civil or mechanical engineering, and possess some financial and accounting acumen. We’ll look for 5 or more years’ experience in risk control, and knowledge of the evaluation/design of fire protection systems, fundamentals of building construction and related resistance to fire and natural perils (wind, earthquakes, floods, etc.). A working knowledge of, or familiarization with, national building codes and standards, fire and life safety codes, including NFPA and other national industry standards (FM), and OSHA, is necessary. A strong foundation in fire dynamics, and knowledge of risk analysis techniques will be key to success in this role. Finally, experience in risk control concepts as they relate to property insurance, workers’ compensation and liability issues will be an absolute.
