We are currently seeking a Volunteer and Community Relations Coordinator. visit www.hershelter.com or email Title: Volunteer and Community Relations Coordinator Department: Program Type: Part time, hourly Reports to: Program Director Job Summary: Coordinates and implements a comprehensive community involvement program that supports organization functions through volunteers, awareness and education of the mission. Responsibilities: 1. Provides Excellent Customer service to Volunteers, Volunteer Groups, clients, donors and community leaders 2. Actively seeks out community contacts and opportunities for H.E.R. volunteer development. 3. Acts as H.E.R. ambassador for agency speaking engagements and Domestic Violence Awareness to community. 4. Recruits, selects, and trains new volunteers; coordinates ongoing training for volunteers as needed to support programs 5. Oversees supervision of all agency volunteers. 6. Documents and reports statistical information pertaining to volunteers, including volunteer hours. 7. Works to achieve H.E.R. strategic plan through volunteer engagement and focused efforts. 8. Establishes volunteer job descriptions as needed. 9. Maintains volunteer records and files. Ensures that all volunteers meet minimum requirements for references and driving privileges. Ensures all volunteers have current police record checks and confidentiality agreements on file. 10. Provides information to volunteers on domestic violence and organizational practices, policies, and procedures. 11. Provides feedback on volunteer performance to the Program Director. Makes recommendations for termination when appropriate. 12. Schedules volunteers within agency schedule. 13. Works closely with community groups for events and speaking engagements. 14. Coordinates annual volunteer recognition event and the United Way Day of Caring. 15. Works closely with staff to promote good working relations with volunteers 16. Documents all services, activities, and incidents. 17. Participates in training seminars, staff meetings, program meetings and other agency functions as requested. 18. Records events, engagements and program accomplishments in monthly reports and VADATA information system. 19. Maintains a professional demeanor with supervisor, co-workers, clients, and other organizations. Communicates effectively and courteously. Brings appropriate issues to the supervisor's attention. Adheres to H.E.R. policies and procedures, including Standard of Conduct. 20. Performs all other duties required for the volunteer program. Requirements: Undergraduate degree preferred. Knowledge of domestic violence and women's issues helpful. Prior experience working with volunteers preferred. Personal qualifications: - Ability to work independently - Organizational and leadership skills, and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing - Professional and sensitive attitude, which reflects the philosophy of H.E.R. - Excellent driving record; valid driver's license; certificate of insurance from an insurance carrier licensed in the state of Virginia; safe, reliable vehicle.
