Camp Fire is currently hiring part-time staff members to plan and facilitate after school program activities with youth in grades K-6. The job description is listed below. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: AFTER SCHOOL YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMING • Facilitate Camp Fire after school program at Crossroads Academy of Kansas City charter school with youth in grades K-6 from various backgrounds • Create weekly lesson plans and supply lists during required Camp Fire Office planning time • Provide a stable, fun, caring, learning environment for youth • Implementation of established behavioral expectations and discipline procedures • Maintain facility, program supplies, resources and equipment in excellent and safe condition • Distribute and monitor daily snack • Participation in weekly one-on-one meeting with the site director, as well as weekly team meeting • Work productively as a member of a team • Demonstrate a positive attitude • Ensure accurate records are maintained and reported to designated Heartland staff • Maintain positive relations with school personnel, administration and parents • Help with office tasks or other program duties as needed • Support fund raising activities through promotion • Review program goals, including evaluation of programs and needs in specific areas • Keep the site director informed of problems, concerns and triumphs • Exemplify Camp Fire Promise in all actions, communications and relationships • Perform all other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Training and/or experience facilitating program with school-age children in a group and semi-structured setting • Training and/or experience planning and facilitating high quality youth development activities, including activities focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), conflict resolution, bullying, arts and crafts, and community and skill building • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of youth and families • Ability to act as a positive role model by displaying appropriate professional behavior • Ability to write lesson plans specifically tailored to youth in the program, giving youth a choice and voice in the activities • Ability to supervise program assistants/volunteers • Ability to accept guidance and supervision in a positive manner • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Desire and ability to work with children in limited indoor and outdoor space • Ability to demonstrate good character, integrity, adaptability/flexibility, and sound decision making skills. • Current Standard First Aid Certification/ Infant, Child & Adult CPR Certification (or willingness to acquire) • Willingness to undergo and pass intensive background check • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds • Possess reliable means of transportation HOURS OF WORK • Hours vary according to the program needs but mainly function Monday-Friday, 3:30-6:30. Employees will work up to 15 hours per week.
