GNT Solutions E-Mail: website: Position Title: Systems Engineer -- Managed Services Company Information GNT Solutions is a Managed IT Service Provider, providing consulting services, sales, and support to a variety of organizations in the Sacramento and Bay Area region. We are seeking to employ a suitably qualified person to add to our Technical Services Team. The position is a full time position located in our Sacramento office. GNT Solutions is a 10 year old I.T. firm that supports some of the leading companies in the region. GNT Solution supports everyone from owners of the Sacramento Kings and political leaders to major for and non-profit organizations. We are the go to service provider for companies that want the best support - Period. Your Role The major responsibility of a Systems Engineer is to maintain computing systems and software for GNT Solutions customers, as well as monitor and optimize system performance and diagnose and correct system faults for these environments; both proactively and reactively. Day-to-day technical support activities require a Systems Engineer to also work with GNT Solutions staff and management in a team oriented approach. Day-to-day support activities include what are commonly known as "help desk support" & "system administration" tasks such as monitoring and maintaining system resource usage, security, operational standards, system performance, end-user issues, and attending to operational problems related to various networked components. These tasks sometimes require a Systems Engineer to work irregular hours and to be available for after hours. The Systems Engineer is required to: Take Help Desk calls. Diagnose system emergencies when they arise and persevere until they are resolved. Advise GNT Solutions staff, management and clients on technical issues. Plan the installation and implementation of new hardware and software. Liaison with vendor representatives when resolving software and hardware problems. Work through proactive and reactive technical support items. Duties include: Provide onsite and remote technical assistance to customer base. Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues. Research issues using available informational resources. Log all customer interactions in our system and follow all standard procedures including documenting resolutions. Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention as needed. Act as company liaison to external and internal customers during all activities. Install equipment and provide initial start-up and training assistance to customer's in-house personnel. Perform routine travel and other tasks as required. Hours will vary to cover extended hours and special customer requests. Willing to learn and obtain the latest technical and professional skills available. Must be able to lift 75 pounds and to climb ladders/stacks. Customer service skills a must! Technologies Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012, SBS2003, SBS2008, SBS2011 AD, DNS, DHCP Exchange 2003, 2007, 2010 Cisco/ FortiNet / SonicWALL Firewall; Site to Site VPN tunnels; SSL VPN Setup; StorageCraft /Datto / BDR Solutions ConnectWise / N-Able Management Software Wireless Technologies (Meraki / Cisco) Windows XP, Vista, 7, & 8 MAC Microsoft Printer Deployment Technologies Advanced network troubleshooting Experience with troubleshooting advanced server issues; performance, slowness, lockups, etc. Login Scripts Group Policies Key Competencies Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent planning & organizational skills Proven technical skills; problem analysis & problem-solving. Excellent computer skills in Windows and MS Office Experience with researching and finding information on the internet The ability to learn the policies and procedures of the company Ability to think and solve a problem you haven't seen before Attention to detail Stress Tolerance Educational Requirements College degree and/or more than three years of equivalent job related experience 5+ years as a systems engineer or equivalent position Managed Services experience is a MAJOR plus Desirable Criteria Previous experience with an IT company supporting small to medium sized businesses (3+ years). Microsoft, Network+, Cisco, Etc., Experience and Certifications Experience with RMM and PSA tools a plus.
