If this sounds like a church that you would like to be a part of or you are interested in receiving more information then please write to Rev. Kevin Baker-Rooks at . We are looking for volunteers to be part of our core group. On Saturday, March 9, a small group met together for a potluck and discussion about what kind of church we want Mercy Church to be. Here are some of the ideas that were shared:The church should be a Christian church were everything we do is done because this is what Christ is calling us to do. The worship services should be held on Saturday evenings around 5;15 in the evening ( many people today are very busy on Sunday's and need an alternative so they can attend church). The style of worship should be contemporary, a joyful celebration with some meditative moments. The sermons need to make the scripture readings relevant to real life. The church should be made up of a congregation that has a blend of people. We would like to have several small groups centered around common interest. The church should be very community focused. Some of our ideas of how we might serve the community include: support for parents in the foster care or adoption process, support for kids with special needs, support and care for the elderly, support for those with Pancreatic Cancer and other life threatening illnesses, support for those that are grieving, in the distant future we would like to own/operate a working farm to help feed people, and to own and operate a 24 hour seven days a week daycare.
