The Bartender must be hospitality minded with an interest in all things food and wine and also have a very curious intelligence to learn more. The Bartender will provide leadership, development, support and motivation creating a positive environment that encourages ownership and accountability. Must possess a strong work ethic, multi-tasking skills, strong leadership and communication skills, plus the ability to work in a team environment and have a passion for food, beverage and hospitality. Bartender must have practical beverage experience managing quality control, cost management and inventory systems, and demonstrate a strong interest in Japanese food and drinks. Duties and Responsibilities • Performs all duties of Bartender and associates as necessary. • Present drink menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding beverages. • Take beverage orders from guests and servers. • Receive and serve food orders to guests seated at the bar. • Learns the names and personally recognize our regulars. • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the Restaurant's standard drink recipes. • Record drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into the register system. • Accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change (if applicable). • Wash and sterilize glassware. • Prepare garnishes for drinks and replenish snacks, appetizers for bar patrons. • Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages. • Clear and reset tables in bar area. • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas. • Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to restaurant manager. • Assist the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies. • Keg management and re-tapping new ones. • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor. • Be informed about POS systems. • Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal (e.g., OSHA, ASI and Health Department) food handling and sanitation regulations. • Optimizes and maintains all equipment and reports malfunctions. • Must be available for day and evening shifts including weekends and holidays. • Attend all scheduled meetings. Qualifications • Be 21 years of age. • Experience in a high volume bar, lounge environment. • Have a flexible schedule of 3 to 4 shifts a week, with days and nights available. • Have a passion for the hospitality industry and our clientele. • Have working knowledge of beer, wine, sake, and shochu. • Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a cash register. • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours). • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds. • Demonstrated ability to drive enthusiasm and teamwork with a commitment to excellence. • Must possess unquestioned ethics and integrity • Must have ServSafe Certification. • Required to taste and sample wine, beer, sake, and / other alcoholic beverages for beverage education purposes. • Professional demeanor and appearance is required. Spanish and/or Japanese language skills are a plus.
