We are an upscale urban brasserie featuring cutting edge Euro-Japanese cuisine, warm hospitality, and breathtaking Bay views. The Sous-Chef is a leader of staff and menu in our kitchen, reporting directly to the Executive Chef. Duties may include, but not be limited to: - Staff supervision - Menu development - Cost control (food and labor) - Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring kitchen staff - Training kitchen staff Successful candidates will have the following: -great cooking skills, food knowledge (ingredients and technique), and palate (culinary degree or equivalent experience) -strong management/leadership ability -excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with guests and Front-of-House staff -excellent written and oral communication skills -basic familiarity with spreadsheets, word processing, e-mail -outstanding teamwork - flexible schedule with open availability including nights and weekends Applicants MUST have at least four years' experience in a fast paced kitchen, including two years in a fine dining setting. MUST also have a minimum of two years' experience supervising and managing a staff of five or more employees. Bilingual Spanish-English or Japanese-English a plus but not required.
