Founded in 1996 by a group of four children and their parents, Schmahl Science Workshops provides pre-K through 12th grade children an unmatched breadth of hands-on science workshops spanning biology, chemistry, earth science, forensics, math and physics. Our mission is to prepare children of all backgrounds for a future in which science and technology will drive every industry and vocation. We offer one hour workshops in classroom settings that are fun and highly informative. Our instructors play a crucial role in student response and workshop success. Responsibilities include:  Must enjoy working with children  Must have a dependable car for transportation  Willing to work at multiple school sites conducting workshops in a classroom, after school or home school environment with students from Pre-K to 12th grade  Hours will vary based on workshop schedule  Responsible for transporting, setting up and maintaining project supplies  Ability to collaborate with other instructors  Must interact with client/school employees in an appropriate manner  Instructors will learn and deliver a variety of lesson plans  Must be able to run workshops using a Socratic method of teaching with emphasis on "hands-on" activities  Ability to create a safe, positive and enjoyable environment for learning  Possess positive classroom management skills  Must be detail oriented, organized and flexible  Punctual  Adhere to company dress code  Excellent written and verbal communication skills  Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Education: BS degree or equivalent experience in science or engineering (middle and high school instruction) OR Teaching experience and love of science (prek-elementary school instruction)
