Summary: The Design Engineer will participate in product development and continuous improvement projects. Must have strong SolidWorks skills. This individual is responsible for the coordination & communication about their assigned projects. They will conduct analyses & tests to validate their development. This will require the individual to prepare & coordinate engineering reports, studies, calculations & drawings. The design engineer will also support the manufacturing engineer on manufacturability issues. This requires a high level of problem solving & the ability to respond quickly. These efforts will focus on assurance of product reliability, compliance with standards & efficient manufacturing. Responsibilities & Objectives: • Support in all areas of the design cycle to production. • Mechanical Design from concept to production • Product ideation • Coordinating prototype builds with a variety of methods & suppliers • Testing / validating • Work with mfg. engineer on design for manufacturability (DFM) • Work with sales / marketing to provide technical information • Work with suppliers to ensure production methods are effective • Self-Leadership -- Takes initiative & action to ensure successful completion of responsibilities • Team-Leadership -- Ability to lead projects while maintaining a strong group rapport. • Delivers great work efficiently, effectively, accurately, on-time & on-budget Job Qualifications: SolidWorks Power User Minimum 4 years of experience B.S. Engineering degree (Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing) or equivalent technical training and experience. Strong analytical skills & attention to detail Must have excellent communication and team skills High motivation and the willingness to take initiative on projects. Ability to troubleshoot, anticipate problems & develop creative & appropriate solutions. Experience or training in the following areas is preferred: - Manufacturing process - Injection molding and part design - Sheet metal processing and fabrication - Electronics fundamentals Physical requirement: Ability to sit, stand & walk for extended periods. May need to occasionally lift or move up to 30 LBS.
