VoIP Engineer Telnexus 2020 Milvia Street, Suite 250 Berkeley, CA 94704 (510) 991-1114, , Roles and Responsibilities As a leader in our Customer Team you will have end-to-end responsibility for new VoIP deployments. As a VoIP Engineer, you will help design and build the Telnexus voice and data infrastructure. You will help extend the capabilities of our current network to accommodate our future growth. You will qualify and implement new equipment from our vendors, and recommend solutions to issues that arise. You should be a demonstrated service leader and creative thinker yet a disciplined engineer, relying on both experience and intuition to make good decisions and qualified judgments. Desired Skills and Experiences The successful candidate will become a founding member of the Telnexus technical team. Experience with other Internet Telephony Service Providers or in corporate VoIP management is crucial. Demonstrated leadership and experience managing teams focused on customer service will be essential qualities. Qualifications and Education Requirements * BS or BA with computer science or engineering emphasis * CCNP or CCIE certifications desirable Duties To Be Performed * Lead customer teams in new VoIP installations * Design and configure TCP/IP and VoIP networks * Maintain networks via regular maintenance and trouble resolution techniques * Configure and troubleshoot Class 4 Softswitches, Session Border Controllers, VoIP gateways, and other VoIP processing equipment * Perform and analyze packet captures of network traffic * Perform interoperability testing with VoIP vendors * Qualify and evaluate network and VoIP equipment * Work with the business side to understand their objectives and account for them in the system design * Configure DHCP, access-lists, and VLANs * Configure OSPF and BGP protocols Preferred Skills * Five or more years hands-on networking experience * Linux system administration expertise * Detailed knowledge of VoIP and SIP messaging * Experience with Asterisk/FreePBX and Freeswitch system building and configuration; familiarity with 2600hz Kazoo platform a plus * Expertise with Cisco router & switch administration * Hands-on network troubleshooting experience; packet capture and inspection * Knowledge of IPsec tunnel configuration required * Telco circuit knowledge & troubleshooting skills * Strong communication and documentation skills are essential
