I have had a person using the name of "peter dempsy" using the phone number "401-859-4249" and the email address "". He was asking me if I would post his animal ads for him on Craigslist, eBay, various sites. He was trying to "re-home" a macaw & a yorkie puppy and he even sent me these pictures to my phone, and sure enough, the pictures were stolen from other people's ads. Of course, since I knew this was an obvious scam due to the way he texted me (poor punctuation, fair-poor english, etc) and also his obviously fake email address, so eventually my niceness wore off and I told him to stop harassing me via text. PLEASE, if it doesn't feel right or if some complete stranger is asking you to do things like this, DON'T DO IT! WE can all STOP these scammers if we STOP giving them exactly what they want...OUR HARD-EARNED MONEY! The problem with posting someone else's ads is this: The scammer is avoiding using their OWN computer IP address by having a victim use THEIRS, in the case the ads are traced by authorities. So instead of using THEIR OWN computer, they sucker someone else into doing it for them, so that the FAKE info they give in the ad PLUS the computer IP address will NEVER come back to them...instead it would be traced to the VICTIM'S computer IP address! There is NO GOOD REASON why a complete stranger would need (or entrust!) another complete stranger to post ads for them...think about it: does it make any sense to you, no matter WHAT excuses they give you about why they "can't" post the ads themselves? No one's computer just suddenly "breaks down" magically after reading YOUR ad and contacting you, nor is anyone "so busy" at work that they can't place an ad for themselves, ever. They will do anything and will promise anything in order to get YOU to do what THEY WANT! When looking for a pet, NEVER send money through a wire transfer service, agree to use a "pet delivery service", or agree to post ads for someone else you don't know and have NEVER met! They are ALL SCAMS and as long as you deal with local people AND you actually meet the person/people, then these scammers will go away or AT LEAST be deterred from doing this. We need to do whatever we can to EXPOSE these scammers and keep them from scamming uneducated and simpler people who don't know any better and have no way to learn any better. Every time you're scammed, post an ad about it on here or where ever you feel people will start being aware of these scams. Also, save and print out evidence of these scams, just in case it might come in handy with the authorities. Thanks for reading and I hope this helps someone to avoid being scammed!
