Position Announcement - December 2013 EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Orange County Partnership for Young Children Chapel Hill, North Carolina Cover letter, resume, 3 references, writing sample, salary history to by January 7, 2014 The Orange County Partnership for Children seeks an experienced and passionate Executive Director (ED) with a demonstrated commitment to organizational excellence to lead the organization. The Position The ED will be well prepared to provide the inspired external and internal leadership required of this role. The ED must have proven, significant, and successful organizational leadership experience and the ability to oversee fundraising, programmatic, and overall operations while working in partnership with the board to guide the organization. The ED must also possess the talent to communicate effectively and to build relationships with multiple diverse constituencies, including the board, staff, donors, media, government officials, agency partners, and other community leaders. Ongoing Responsibilities • Board Relations, Vision, Mission, and Strategies • Fiscal Management • Program Development and Management • External Liaison and Public Image • Fundraising and Resource Development • Human Resources Management Required Qualifications • A demonstrated passion for the well-being and education of young children and their families • A proven track record of leadership and management with at least five years of senior management experience • Demonstrated fundraising and relationship building experience • A high degree of financial literacy and financial management experience • Experience in advocacy and public policy • Knowledge of Orange County community, social issues and leaders • Collaborative/Nonprofit leadership experience • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills • Experience with diverse populations and multiple constituencies • Demonstrated ability to work with and develop strong board leadership • A Master's Degree The ideal candidate will also have: • Smart Start/ NC Pre K/early childhood experience • Experience with childhood anti-obesity projects; community gardening and sustainable farming • Awareness state issues and leaders • Marketing and public relations experience • A strength-based approach to staff, communities and families Compensation • The salary range is commensurate with experience (hiring range $67,000-$77,000) • OCPYC offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package • Proposed Start Date: February, 2014 (negotiable) Application Process • To apply, please send a cover letter, resume, references, writing sample and salary history via email only to:Smart Start ED Search Committee • Please, no phone calls or faxes. • Application Deadline: January 7, 2013 Founded in 1993 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, OCPYC is affiliated with the North Carolina Partnership for Children, an innovative statewide initiative designed to ensure that all young children enter school healthy and ready to succeed. Working with local partners, including schools, child care providers, local and regional government agencies, businesses and community volunteers, OCPYC strives to realize this mission. It has a diverse and committed 15-member board of directors, an experienced 8-member staff supplemented by several contractors, and an annual budget of approximately $3.7 million. OCPYC's areas of focus include programs that support early child care and education, child health and early intervention, and family support. It serves as the local administrator for Smart Start, which plans, funds and coordinates programs that make up a comprehensive, integrated system of services for children from birth to age five. It also oversees local implementation of the NC Pre-K Program, which is designed to provide high-quality, free educational experiences to enhance school readiness for four-year-olds from income-eligible families.
