JUNIOR DATABASE SOLUTIONS ADMINISTRATOR Job Summary Develops, maintains and optimizes databases by designing, documenting, normalizing, and testing logical and physical database systems based on assigned specifications; developing and maintaining policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of internal /external database data; resolving performance and capacity issues; resolving replication and other distributed data issues; accurately estimating project efforts and timelines; prioritizing multiple tasks effectively; understanding customer expectations and recognizing when issues/events may effect delivery dates; assisting in adherence to development schedules and deadlines. Primary Responsibilities -MEETS PROJECT GOALS by assessing project requirements and designing database solutions for efficiency, extensibility and performance; maintaining existing database systems by correcting errors, extending functionality and/or improving performance; working strategically with the Support Services team to support customers; supporting sales initiatives. -MEETS CUSTOMER SERVICE REQUIREMENTS by providing technical support to internal customers as well as interacting directly with external customers, providing after hours customer support if required until incident is resolved. -APPLIES TECHNIQUES TO IMPROVE CODE QUALITY, CONSISTENCY AND MAINTAINABILITY by preparing and leading code reviews; solving problems analytically and approaching challenges logically and systematically. -BUILDS AND STRENGTHENS CORPORATE/DEPARTMENT REPUTATION by working within a team as well as independently to achieve goals and deadlines for projects; exploring new opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. -CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVES PRODUCT DESIGN AND SERVICES by participating and leading code reviews; sharing acquired skills with team members through formal and informal channels; engaging co-workers to share knowledge and new techniques to resolve challenges; embracing new ideas. -CONTRIBUTES TO PRODUCT EFFECTIVENESS by assisting the System Test group in developing System Testing plans; carrying out the testing process when appropriate; following database baseline process to maintain ever fresh readiness. -IDENTIFIES DATABASE REQUIREMENTS by interviewing customers; evaluating hardware and operating system environments; analyzing applications, programming, and customer operations; evaluating existing database systems. -PROVIDES INFORMATION by creating and maintaining system documentation, i.e. installation instructions, release notes, user manuals. -IMPROVES COMMUNICATION by exemplifying active listening with co-workers; contributing appropriately during discussions; accurately preparing written business correspondence that is coherent, grammatically correct, effective, professional and engaging. -MAINTAINS TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE by attending educational workshops; reading technical publications; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; researching new technologies. Driving record, personal insurance and personal finance must be maintained in condition satisfactory to enable travel activities such as renting and driving of rental cars, purchase of airline tickets, reservation and payment for lodging, and purchase of meals. Must be able to travel to unfamiliar locations, read maps and follow directions. Preferred Designations or Certifications: Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate or Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer. 1 - 3 years of experience required in Database Administration. 1 - 3 years of experience required in Database Maintenance . 1 - 3 years of experience required in Troubleshooting. 0 - 1 years of experience required in Database Development. 0 - 1 years of experience preferred in Management Information Systems. 0 - 1 years of experience preferred in Data Warehousing.
