Synergy Staffing is currently seeking an: Fitter / Welder "A" 801.266.9675 www.synergystaffing4u.com DETAILS: Lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, such as building members, columns, joists, frames, stairs, railings and other parts, using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements. Includes welders who analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan welders who analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations where procedural information is unavailable. Pay: $14 - $18 depending on experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: o Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using appropriate tools and measuring devices. o Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment. - Is certified with both stick and wire in vertical position. o Cuts work piece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife. o Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications. o Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments. o Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper. o Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. o Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment. o Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc. o Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts. o Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques. o Moves structural elements by hand and machine through the use of chain rigging, overhead/jib crane, material conveyor, or transfer stations and other material handling equipment. o Inspects equipment, structural components, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. o Other duties that may be assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS: - Prefer High School diploma, GED or equivalent 1 - 3 years work experience. - Possess working knowledge of blue prints and shop drawings, especially all weld symbols. - Able to understand all material specifications. - Can use the following tools with a high degree of skill: hand torch, track torch, mag drill, grinder. - Must be certified in the vertical position with wire feed. - Must have a general understanding of welding parameters and procedures. - Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision and maintain shop production standards with excellent quality and low rejection rates. - Ability to maintain a professional relationship with co-workers.
