The purpose of Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland is to develop our community's youth into positive contributors to society. To accomplish our purpose, we provide programs and services that are tailored to the special needs of today's youth and supplementary to the endeavors of our families, our schools, and other community-based organizations. We strive to insure that each of our young people is given the opportunity to reach his or her fullest potential as effective, goal-oriented young adults who will become responsible members of our society. We currently serve nearly 3,000 youth in Oakland with an outcome-driven club experience in order to achieve our primary objectives: Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship and Healthy Lifestyles. We have three locations. The successful candidate will be based in the Anna Marie Whalen Branch in Central East Oakland. Job Description: Process and record all assigned financial transactions (payables and/or receivables) in the general ledger. Compile regular reports to monitor adherence to budget targets and prepare regular financial statements for senior management and government/regulatory agencies. May coordinate annual audit activities with external auditors. Implement day-to-day accounting activities, processing all financial transactions and reports through administrative systems, consistent with Club policies and procedures. Ensure the maintenance of accurate and timely financial records by entering, processing and reconciling transactions in accordance with established procedures and formats. Ensure compliance will all regulations, generally accepted accounting practices, and contractual requirements. Compile regular financial reports (budget variance reports, general ledger updates, etc.) to support management-level decision-making regarding the Club's fiscal health. Develop collaborative partnerships with Club staff, consultants, auditors, vendors and service providers to establish and maintain professional links. Work closely with outside auditors in implementing any recommended controls or procedures intended to improve Club financial reporting. Qualifications: If you are reliable, self-directed, a critical thinker, provide outstanding customer service, and have integrity, we'd like to talk to you! Associates degree or equivalent. Three to five years of general accounting experience using Quickbooks. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail Strong customer relations skills Experience with non-profit fund accounting Employment Status: Part Time, Non-Exempt Salary Range: $25 to $30 per hour (Actual starting salary within range depends upon experience) Application: Along with your cover letter and resume, include answers to these two questions: 1.
