Need help with Math or Science? -- Email or call 610--585--9608 Yes, I have a PA phone number (parent's plan). I live in midtown and I will travel to meet you at your location in NYC. Math and Science can be hard but with the right support system, you can understand the material, learn how to do problems, and get better grades! This is where I come in. My name is Michelle K. and I am a patient and experienced tutor with a Chemistry Bachelors and Math Minor from MIT (GPA:3.8) and a PhD in Chemistry from Cornell University. I have tutored numerous students from NYC's private schools and universities over the past three years and have helped students increase their grades by at least one letter grade. My teaching experience: ► Tutoring Math and Science since I was a sophomore in college -- Math - all subjects (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Differential Equations) -- Chemistry / Organic Chemistry / Biology / Earth Science / Physics ► TA for college level Introduction to Chemistry I/II and Organic Chemistry I/II My students enjoy working with me because I think of creative ways to explain complex concepts, keep tutoring sessions fun and stress-free, and always go the extra mile to make sure all of their needs are met. Most of all, I push students to challenge their own standards of success and equip them with the confidence and skills that allow them to exceed their own expectations. I tutor the following: ► Middle school / High school Math and Science (private and public). Subjects include Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Differential Equations, Chemistry, Biology, Earth Science, Physics -- SAT prep -- Regents prep -- AP level courses ► College level Math -- Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Differential Equations ► College level Intro to Chemistry I/II ► Organic Chemistry I/II ► College level Biology I and Biochemistry ► Polymer Chemistry ► Material Science ► Physics I & II For further details, email or call 610--585--9608. Rates are $70-$90/hr. Please include the following: subject, high school or college, course level (ie regular or AP class). References I am a pre-med student at NYU and I took organic chemistry last semester. I studied for hours and could never fully grasp complex topics and not at the fast pace that was required. And my first exam grade was pretty bad. I wanted an expert to help me on organic chemistry and not just a general tutor who did not major in chemistry. Michelle is simply fantastic! Her knowledge of Chemistry is phenomenal and she is able to take those complex topics and break them down into simple concepts that I can understand and most importantly manipulate under test-taking conditions. For my second exam -- I am proud to say I scored the second highest score in the class! Michelle is very patient with all my frustrations and she will explain topics and concepts in a variety of ways until I understand them. And then we do many problems so that I can see how to manipulate those concepts. As a Pre-Med major, I would like to tell those students who may have not done that well on their first Organic Chemistry or General Chemistry test, it's not too late to recover your grade. Don't waste your time with someone with a degree in engineering; get someone with PhD in Chemistry. Get Michelle! It really pays off to get the best! I got an A for the semester! Eric B. I give Michelle an A+ in tutoring! I am an NYU freshman and I am taking Gen Chem and Calculus. And I needed a tutor for both. Michelle tailored a personalized plan of study that took into consideration all areas that needed learning or reviewing. She was patient, professional, always well prepared with a lot of study materials. The result is that I understand what's going in class and I went from a B- in my first exams to an A+ in the next one for both chemistry and math! Michelle is a great tutor and mentor! Melissa S. When I hired Michelle I originally went with my gut feeling and my son was so delighted with the session. He learned a lot with Michelle with just his first session in Chemistry. Michelle is a highly organized and experienced tutor and knows how to grab her students' attention to keep them interested in learning and so they learn. My son is continuing his sessions with Michelle. I highly recommended Michelle. She's experienced in her field and you're definitely getting your money's worth and more. You are not getting a tutor - you are getting a TEACHER!! Sarah G. Michelle is just a brilliant tutor who loves helping students. We screened and had sessions with several tutors before choosing Michelle. We are extremely happy with our choice. My son goes to one of NYC's private high schools and it is very competitive. Michelle tutors him in 10th grade Honors Algebra. Now my son is focused and excited about the subject. His weekly sessions with Michelle are keeping him very motivated. Aaron D.
