Westover and Berkeley Square (Colonial ) are seeking a RN nurse manager and a full-time RN. Nurse manager position is Full-time night shift. RN must be flexible. Send resume to to be considered. The RN will promote resident Wellness by fostering a person-focused approach to care; guide members of the nursing team to provide care and services using current best practices while operating within local and federal regulations; collaborate with physicians and other interdisciplinary team members to address resident concerns and develop a resident-driven Wellness Plan. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Able to perform all duties encompassed in the Resident Assistant Job Description and the Staff Nurse Job Description. • Works from a team approach to guide staff in meeting residents' needs. • Establishes an excellent rapport with residents and their families. • Coordinates staff assignments, and maintains appropriate staffing ratios. • Delegates duties to staff members within each individual team member's scope of practice, training, and competency level. • Follows up on delegated tasks to verify the task was completed. • Responds to urgent and emergency needs immediately. • Assesses and reports physical, mental and emotional changes in resident's condition to attending physician and to the resident's responsible party. • Ensures that physician's orders are carried out correctly, in a timely manner, and according to state and federal regulations and facility policies and procedures. • Writes and transcribes telephone physicians' orders, as well as new admission and readmission orders. • Collaborates with team to complete admission paperwork and follows up with staff to make sure everything is completed. • Coordinates appointments with physicians' offices/clinics with Colonial transportation and families. • Follows up with physician regarding lab and diagnostic test results. • Follows up with physician regarding pharmacy recommendations. • Prepares for physician rounds on days when Colonial medical directors will round. • Attends wound rounds and documents wound measurements weekly. • Administers IV medications, IV fluids, and IV line maintenance and needed according to physician's orders. • Maintains supervision of care provided by Resident Assistants and Staff Nurses. • Maintains staffing ratios according to unit census. • Completes performance appraisals as scheduled. • Provides ongoing feedback to team members regarding their performance. • Provides prompt and accurate response to staff, resident, and family inquiries for information while always honoring confidentiality. • Reviews team member's documentation and provides guidance, support, and education where needed. • Initiates and follows through with disciplinary action when necessary, including completion and presentation of proper forms. • Promotes adherence to resident Wellness Plans to guide and direct care. • Enforces infection control policies and procedures. • Enforces proper medication administration and handling procedures according to state and federal regulations. • Performs audits to ensure ongoing compliance with policies and procedures as assigned by the director of nursing. • Maintains professional knowledge base. • Documents pertinent information using established policies/guidelines. • Maintains continuity of care. • Maintains confidentiality. • Attends all resident Wellness Conferences. • Communicates job/resident related questions/concerns, and suggestions through the established chain of command. • Provides a safe and clean environment. • Other duties as delegated by the Director of Nursing and the Administrator. • Completes daily census if working night shift. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS Education: Graduate of Ohio Board of Nursing approved nursing program or school of nursing. Must show evidence of successful completion of Pharmacology course. Licenses or other required certifications: Must have current license to practice nursing in state of Ohio, hold current CPR card. Experience: Previous experience in long term/geriatrics preferred. Specialized knowledge, skills, or abilities: Familiar with infection control practices, OSHA guidelines relative to long term care, and Ohio Department of Health Regulations. WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Must be certified by a physician as medically capable of performing his/her assigned job duties. • Must have the ability to lift, transfer, position, and ambulate those residents needing assistance. • Stands and walks for long periods of time. • May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases and hazardous materials as defined by OHSA and CDC.
