Position Title: Activity Leader -- ASES Harmonium Mission: To promote well-being and self-sufficiency in children, youth, and adults through creative education, intervention, and prevention services rooted in collaboration with neighborhoods and families Status: Non-Exempt Division: Children's Programs Department: Prime Time Location Varies, multi-site worker Hours: Part Time, shift/hours vary by site Salary: $10.00 per hour Benefits: N/A Reports to: Program Specialist Direct Report: N/A EEO Job Category: Service Worker Description: The Activity Leader is mandated to take all steps necessary to ensure the safety, security, and well- being of the children enrolled in the program. Essential Functions Communication − Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with school site, parents, children and Harmonium staff − Communicate with parents regarding their child on a daily basis Agency Leadership: − Follow policies in own role which are determined by others; no responsibility and leadership required for service development, but may be required to comment on policies, procedures, or possible developments Job Complexity: − Supervise day-to-day activities of the program while maintaining ratios within contract − Redirect inappropriate child behavior and provide disciplinary action and notify Program Specialist when necessary − Provide academic homework assistance Accountability: − Maintain a clean and orderly designated school space − Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of students enrolled in the program Decision Making: − Judgments and decisions are guided by Harmonium and program policies, contracts and guidelines Staff Supervision: − Ordinarily, no supervisory responsibility except occasional project based work Minimum Competencies: − Must be 18 years of age − Must pass CAPE test or have a minimum of 48 completed college units − A minimum of 6 months experience working and/or volunteering in an after school or group child care setting with elementary aged children − Valid Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification required − Demonstrated ability in sports, special interests and hobbies, and/or arts & crafts − Ability to relate well to children and adults − Must pass TB and Fingerprint Clearance upon hire Physical Requirements: − Ability to operate computer − Frequent repetitive hand use and simple grasping − Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching above, and below the shoulder − Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds − Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods − Ability to operate a vehicle − High energy needed with the ability to balance multiple high-stress tasks − Ability to work in noisy and outdoor environments − Occasional travel in San Diego County − Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions Disclaimer: − Harmonium, Inc. is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer − The employee is required is adhere to all Harmonium policy when employed − The preceding description is ONLY a general description of essential duties and not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities required of this position − Job description is subject to change at any time
