Reply AmeriCorps Member Service Opportunities (La Familia Counseling Center, Inc) La Familia Counseling Center, Inc., is a community based Family Resource Center offering an array of services/programs for youth and families in Sacramento. La Familia is looking for individuals committed to "excellence" in serving families, while gaining invaluable experience. AmeriCorps is a government funded community service program designed to help communities meet the special needs in their area by recruiting and training individuals who are willing to devote one to two years serving in selected community projects. The AmeriCorps positions noted below work with families with children 0-5 yrs. old at risk for child abuse and neglect. The following AmeriCorps position is available: The School Readiness Home Visitor (SRHV) works with La Familia's Birth & Beyond Family Resource Center team providing services to families with children 0-5 years old. The School Readiness component of the B&B Family Resource Center provides educational based services to The School Readiness Home Visitor (Full- time) provides support to link families to school readiness/services and Kindergarten. The SRHV conducts join visits with the Birth & Beyond Home Visitors and educates families on developmentally appropriate learning play activities. Essential responsibilities include: • Conduct Ages & Stages Questionnaire-Social Emotional to promote/educate families on appropriate social/emotional development. • Provide Literacy opportunities • Link families to childcare services and/or local school district. • Refer families to resources and service in the community to enhance child development • Conduct Joint Home Visits with Home Visitors • Maintain required documentation and collect required data • Attend required trainings and meetings Benefits of serving as an AmeriCorps member: • Living wage allowance- $18,700 for 1st year term and $19,550 for 2nd year term (each term a minimum of 1,700 hours of service). • Eligible to receive Educational Award of $5,550.00 for successfully completing term of service.
