TEXAS MEDICAL ASSOCIATION JOB DESCRIPTION DEPARTMENT Practice Consulting TITLE Practice Management Specialist SUPERVISOR Associate Vice President, Practice Management Services MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS  *Provide on-site practice management consulting and training  *Write detailed, comprehensive reports outlining key findings and recommendations for improvement for practice assessment projects  *Direct and manage multiple client projects simultaneously  *Maintain client database in IMIS  *Assist with development of new practice management consulting services, seminars and publications  *Conduct seminars and presentations  *Keep current on practice management trends/issues through professional literature and relevant conferences Knowledge and Experience: Requires concentrated understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge. Knowledge required is normally equivalent to a bachelor's degree and/or 5-7 years "hands-on" practice management experience in a medical practice. Must have experience in all aspects of practice management to include billing/collections; accounts receivable/payable, employee supervision and training; managed care; patient relations; medical office policies/procedures, financial analysis, marketing and HIT implementation. In depth knowledge of current dynamics of health care industry required. Coding knowledge a plus. Substantial travel within Texas is required. Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and deal effectively with members, employees and associates. Must be flexible, organized and able to plan work which requires evaluating facts to determine courses of action. Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
