SEEKING BLENDED WORSHIP LEADER/MUSIC DIRECTOR Monroe Presbyterian Church, 57 West Elm Street, Monroe Ohio, 45050, (513) 539-7170 Monroe Presbyterian is a small, warm, spiritually alive, Biblically oriented fellowship located off I-75 half way between Cincinnati and Dayton. The Monroe Presbyterian Church is a Christ-centered Presbyterian church. We accept the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as God's authoritative word, guiding our belief and practice. Our purpose is to guide men, women, and children into a personal saving relationship with Jesus Christ; to strengthen faith; and to use our gifts and talents in Christian service and mission. Job Title: BLENDED WORSHIP LEADER/MUSIC DIRECTOR Reports to: Pastor and Personnel Committee Responsive to: Worship Committee Objective: 1. To lead and continue to teach our small Christ centered congregation to worship and connect with God through singing a blend of contemporary worship songs and traditional hymns. 2. Provide musical accompaniment (piano/keyboard) for our single worship service 10:30 A.M. Sunday morning. 3. Develop outreach ministry that fits your gifts and passions. Skills & Abilities: These responsibilities may be divided between two people, a vocalist/song leader who serves as Music Director and a pianist/keyboard person. 1. Since music is vital to our worship of God and connection with God, there must be a basic commitment to Jesus Christ and the church. 2. Ability to play proficiently piano and electronic keyboard. The ability to play guitar would be an asset. Ability to play an organ is not required but would be a plus. If an accompanist is used for Sunday morning the Music Director must be able to provide some form of musical accompaniment for praise team practice. 3. A gift for vocally leading the singing of the Praise Team and congregation so that we genuinely worship and connect with God. 4. Ability to work well with people, including the pastor, accompanists, praise team, worship committee chairperson, organist and the office manager. Employee's Responsibilities: 1. Provide piano/keyboard accompaniment at the 10:30am Sunday service by following the order of worship. Or hire an accompanist as needed. 2. Assemble and lead a weekly Praise Team practice. 3. Assist the pastor in selecting songs that reinforce the pastor's message. 4. Be present for special services including Holy Week, Christmas Eve, Thanksgiving, and occasional special services. 5. Develop an outreach ministry that fits your gifts and passions. For example: children's chorus and/or youth praise band. Attracting and involving young families and their children is very important to our congregation. Execute a plan which includes cultivating contacts and relationships to accomplish this goal. 6. Coordinate and direct the involvement of other instrumentalists and singers. Recruit and cultivate volunteer singers and musicians. Book and coordinate the involvement of guest singers and musicians working in cooperation with the Worship Committee. 7. If unavailable for service, assist in the hiring of substitute pianist. 8. Supervise the maintenance of the church's musical instruments subject to the approval of the Worship Committee and the Property Management Committee. 9. Attend regular meetings of staff and Worship Committee. 10. Generally be asked to play for all weddings, funerals, and memorial services that require a pianist, subject to your availability. 11. Provide 45 days advance, written notice if the employee wishes to terminate employment. Church's Responsibilities: 1. The employee will be paid twice a month. Salary is negotiable. 2. Provide two weeks paid vacation per year. 3. Scheduling of leave is subject to prior approval by the Personnel Committee. Additional unpaid absences may be granted with prior notice. 4. Provide social security benefits and withhold city, state, and federal taxes from salary. 5. Include in the church's State Worker's Compensation unit. 6. Permit the Blended Worship Leader and Pianist to use church facilities and instruments for private teaching with time scheduled to avoid conflicts with church activities. 7. Provide 45 days advance, written notice if the church wishes to terminate employment. 8. The Music Director has the right of first refusal for weddings and funerals. Employee Performance Review: A performance review shall be held prior to formation of the budget to evaluate working relationships and job performance. The Personnel Committee, the Pastor, and representatives of the Worship Committee will conduct the review. The review shall consider a cost of living adjustment in accordance with prevailing rates.
