This job is more than just feeding. We have 525 pot-bellied pigs including over 300 seniors. Many of these pigs need hands-on care. This is not a short term job. We are looking for someone who wants a long term employment. Health insurance available after 3 months. Work days are Friday through Tuesday, including Saturday and Sunday * Must have Reliable Transportation * Job is for 5 Days per week @ 8 Hours per day. * Work days are Friday through Tuesday, including Saturday and Sunday * Health insurance after 3 months. * Starting time is 6 am becoming 8am in the winter * The ability to work with others is necessary. * We are looking for a reliable self starter and fast learner. * No experience necessary, we will train you. * Experience working outdoors in the summer heat a plus. * Experience working with animals and medical knowledge is a plus. * No drugs period. Our message machine does not have caller ID. This is a hard but rewarding job working with our staff taking care of our sweet pot-bellied pigs. Job duties include, but are not limited to, cleaning pens and fields, feeding the pigs by carrying buckets of grain throughout a field, learning which pigs go into the many feeding pens, learning which of the more than 120 pigs get medications, preparing daily medications, hands-on care of pigs who are disabled, injured, or sick, general animal care and help with trimming tusks and hoofs and other medical procedures, watering our 23 different fields and repairing shade cloth. This is an outdoor job so the ability to work outside in the summer is necessary. The job requires that you be outdoors walking over our 15 acres of fields all day as you do your job. Summer daytime temperatures can be in the 100's. Previous experience working outside in a hot climate is a plus. This is a full time position. Five 8 hour days. Working hours are from 6am to 2pm becoming 8am to 4pm in the winter. Starting pay is $8.50 an hour. There is health insurance after 3 months and a one week paid vacation each year. There is an opportunity to receive up to a $1 per hour increase each year during the first two years. Must be willing to work Saturday and Sunday and some holidays as necessary. No drugs period. We are approximately 30 miles distant from Tucson. There are about 4 miles of dirt roads to the sanctuary.
