The Honors Academy of Literature 2013-2014 Site-Based Substitute Position Email all application materials to by July 19th at midnight. Position Description: This site-based substitute position is two-pronged: 1) The first phase would be a full-time long-term sub for 10 weeks from August 5th-October 11th. This would be at a daily rate of $130. This would be for the 3rd grade content teacher who has a mix of 2nd-5th grade students. And would include teaching two fun electives--one on art and one for music appreciation. We can provide support and resources in these subject areas as you plan them. You would be the teacher in these classes for the first quarter, planning lessons, doing ice breaker activities, communicating with parents, and running parent conferences. You would collaborate with the current teacher who will be on leave, but you would do all of the teaching. During this phase of the job, you would have to have a schedule that would allow you to work teacher contract hours daily, 5 days a week. 2) In the 2nd-4th quarters, you would transition into our site-based substitute teacher and Part-time interventionist. What this entails is coming twice a week, every Monday and Friday to school. When a teacher needs you to sub, you would teach their classes. On Mondays and Fridays when you are not needed to sub, you would run small groups and one-on-one instruction, assisting teachers as needed. In both of these positions, you would be considered a faculty member and treated as part of the team. You would be invited to attend both the Monday faculty meeting and the Friday professional development so that you have a say in school decisions and on-going training. You would also be encouraged to participate in any of the ongoing resume-building opportunities in which our teachers participate, for instance getting certified in CPR and First Aid. Applicants need to submit the following to complete your application: -Current resume or curriculum vitae -Scanned copy of your substitute certification or teaching certifications -Phone and email contact information for three references with knowledge of your teaching abilities Site-Based Sub Requirements: Nevada substitute license Experience working with children Work or volunteer record that demonstrates a passion for teaching Evidence of leadership skills Has worked as a part of a collaborative team Experience working with diverse populations Familiarity with developmental instruction and differentiation Strong communication skills Record of working effectively with all stakeholders, especially parents Strong references Site-based Sub Preferences: Nevada Teaching Certification Successful experience teaching Record of developmental instruction or differentiation in teaching Experience working in intervention groups
