My Place Teen Center Title: Program Coordinator Reports to: Director of Operations Please send all inquiries to: The Program Coordinator is a motivated, enthusiastic, team-player at a dynamic, growing, afterschool program for youth. This position provides overall floor management in accordance with our mission. The Program Coordinator develops, implements, and assesses all core programs and all customized programs for youth ages 10-18; provides and maintains a safe environment; builds and maintains consistent and positive rapport with youth; and serves as a liaison between youth, community leaders, and citizens. In addition, this staff member is an active participant in all aspects of MPTC's daily operations, from meetings and events, to housekeeping and creative projects. This staff member works closely with, and reports directly to, the Director of Operations. This position is scheduled for 30 hours a week. School hours are 1:30 pm - 7:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Summer hours are 11 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Primary Duties and Responsibilities The Program Coordinator performs a wide range of duties including the following: OPERATIONS: Serves as the primary staff person during the center's open hours and ensures coverage of other staff / volunteers when program activity requires. Responsible for tracking and filing MPTC documentation such as membership forms, daily and weekly attendance records, at-risk teen attendance, yearly attendance statistics, and the creation of additional tracking forms as needed and requested by the Director of Operations. Responsible for opening and closing MPTC (locking up, cleanliness, lights, etc.) and contacts the Director of Operations in a timely manner to report any problems with the physical space. PROGRAM: Responsible for following all policies regarding the operation of MPTC and the safety of the teens attending it, including meeting with parents as needed regarding any issues involving teen attendees. Actively works to recruit nurture and retain teen members. Responsible for building a relationship with the parents of teens who attend MPTC to assist with community relations, as well as regular communication regarding upcoming events/changes at the Teen Center. Recruits, trains and schedules volunteers and maintains a database of active volunteers. Processes volunteer background checks in accordance with MPTC policies. Responsible for the creation and implementation of programming events for MPTC. Assist with soliciting product donations to assist with reduction of programming costs. Marketing/Publicity; regularly submits Center-related information to the Middle School and High School newsletters. Corresponds with the Parent Associations of the Middle and High Schools, and develops other ways of promoting the Center to the community. Follows and implements the United Way Logic model and other grant requirements including goals and data analysis methods. Qualifications Candidates must be energetic, motivated, and have a passion for working with people of all ages, especially teens. Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Recreational Management Administration, Education or related field preferred. Work experience with teens in an advisory, recreational, or school setting. Able to communicate effectively with teens, parents, and the public. Must have a valid Driver's License in good standing and personal car insurance. Working Conditions/Physical Demands/Essential Functions: Working knowledge of computers and computer programs -- a proficiency exam will be administered. Ability to work standing up or seated for periods of time, but with freedom of movement. Ability to handle and/or move materials and supplies on a daily basis; lifting capacity up to 40 pounds. Daily stair climbing to access additional building space. Some occasional stress due to multiple priorities and/or deadlines.
