Technical Services Engineer, Actuation and Controls NW Houston, TX
This is a unique position for a unique person. We’re looking for an individual who has a sales mentality backed by technical engineering expertise. In this high profile position, you will be expected to make recommendations to internal teams and solve technical issues for customers. You will be coming in on the ground floor and gaining a full scope of the business. This is a revenue generating and highly technical opportunity. Ready to learn more?
In this new role, your day will start by 8am and you will collaborate with Electrical Engineers and Mechanical Engineers on a regular basis. You will perform testing and evaluations, make calls to distributors, manage projects and assist the sales team by helping with proposals and quotes. On the technical side, you will receive incoming calls from customers as it relates to troubleshooting. We will expect you to make recommendations for solving the problems. After resolving the issues at hand, you will put together suggestions and present your recommendations internally. Your solutions will help our sales team understand how to solve customer issues going forward. Further down the road, you will be traveling and meeting with customers in person. You will deliver onsite presentations to the sales team and become the go-to for technical questions, issues and problems. Your recommendations will also help shape future product development. In summary, this position provides technical support and training on actuation and controls products to distributors, sales teams, as well as to customers. In this role, you will be considered a member of the sales team on major projects. To be successful, you will need to develop your expertise on our current and future actuation and controls products. Activities will be located within our headquarters, as well as within distributor and customer locations around the country.
The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with at least two years of experience in a large electrical company. A firm understanding of wiring diagrams and P&ID diagrams with design experience and an understanding of electro-mechanical mechanisms (gear motors, solenoid valves, etc.) also required. Must be proficient with CAD software and possess knowledge of motor control circuitry for L.V. motors.
To be successful, you must be loyal, independent and highly motivated with outstanding communication skills. You must feel comfortable presenting to large crowds. Plus be capable of interacting with different divisions, distributors and customers. Some international travel may be required.
Candidates with past internships abroad are highly desirable. Also preferred is knowledge of DeviceNet, Foundation Fieldbus, ASi, ProfiBus and ModBus. Knowledge of Allen Bradley or Siemens PLCs along with corresponding software packages is a plus.
