Gas Turbine Reconditioning Engineer Richmond, Virginia

If so, then we invite you to become our new Gas Turbine Reconditioning Engineer. We’re seeking a metallurgist who understands how components are designed and how they work, who enjoys the results of metallurgical investigation.
In this role, you will be the focal point for all parts and process-related tasks in connection with reconditioning of gas turbine components. The position provides technical support to internal and external suppliers during the preparation and execution of the reconditioning process.
Additionally, this position also requires the structured collection of component-wear experience and the proposal of component improvements to increase useful life as well as streamlining the reconditioning process. This engineer will support the process development and production activities with design, specification, and ordering of specialized tooling and equipment for unique repair applications.
The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering with at least five years of experience. Applicants with 10+ years of Power Generation and Aerospace experience in lieu of degree will also be considered.
Additionally, you must have at least two years of experience in repair and economical replacement plus five years in gas turbine design, maintenance, repair or manufacture. The qualified candidate will have in-depth knowledge of gas-turbine component operational wear patterns and typical material degradation. Other requirements include a solid understanding of repair techniques for cast and welded gas-turbine components, fundamental understanding of component stress created by pressure, temperature and vibration, plus an understanding of machining, fabrication, welding and heat treatment fundamentals.
