Working with an Engineer to move freight, you'll put safety first as you use your mind and body to assemble freight trains in yard operations and on the road. These positions involve strenuous, outdoor work in all weather conditions, where safety precautions must be taken at all times. Once you complete our paid training program and written exam, you will be a qualified Norfolk Southern conductor. This is an on-call position requiring extensive travel. Ideal candidates will come from an industrial, manufacturing, military, or public safety background, or have a strong work ethic in the outdoors, such as in the farming or construction industries. A stable work history along with good decision-making skills and strong safety awareness are required. Previous certification in the area of safety is a huge plus.
