Sr. Civil/ Structural Engineer with PE in San Juan San Juan, Puerto Rico

Your expertise is needed to assist the Department of Veteran Affairs in San Juan PR., with the construction of new multi-story 143,000 sq. ft., Administration building.
We are looking for senior level candidates to help support this effort. The successful candidate must have extensive technical and practical knowledge, and experience as a Civil/ Structural Project Manager. They must also have a sound understanding of engineering concepts, principles and practices applicable to civil, Structural concrete and reinforcing steel, electrical, and supervision of construction operations.
Responsibilities Include: - All job duties related to the day to day construction functions such as scheduling, RFIís, submittals, tracking budgeting, database management, change orders etc. - Conducts and carries out portions of daily inspections of site work, building construction work; documents discrepancies, code violations, improper materials or techniques in the application of materials, substandard or poor quality workmanship; monitors schedules on various aspects of ongoing daily activities to identify and mitigate project slippage and coordinate project phasing. - Reviews contractor's cost breakdown and submittals on proposed equipment and materials; maintains accurate and complete job files including as-built drawings and specifications; identifies progress delays and recommends appropriate corrective measures to the SRE toward mitigating delays and maintaining the progress schedule. - Plans and coordinates disruptions to utility services as needed to keep construction progress on schedule timeline and to minimize disruption to ongoing VA operations; maintains an inventory of materials, supplies and equipment and monitors the quantity of materials used in the contract administration and conduct of the project.
Requirements Are: - Positions require at least a minimum of 5 years construction experience with Large Multi-story projects. - Bachelorís Degree required. - Current Professional Civil/Structural Engineering license registration and maintenance of same throughout tenure. - Knowledge of foundations, building frames, roof frames, bridges, tunnels, piers, bulkhead and culverts as a leader of the inspection team. This includes planning and conducting inspections and inventories of such structures to identify and note deficiencies, problems, or the general physical condition of such structures. - Knowledge of surveying, site earthwork, concrete deck, pre-cast concrete, steel deck, roofing system and road work. - Ability to review design and construction plans against existing site conditions, assess the need to make changes because of unforeseen design problems, and propose cost effective solutions.
