Bobcat of the Twin Tiers is a division of Thompson & Johnson Equipment Co., an industry leader in sales and service of compact construction and material handling equipment since 1954 and is currently seeking a self-motivated, competitive, organized and goal-oriented person to aggressively sell our line of compact construction equipment to new and existing customers throughout an assigned geographic territory.
During a typical 50 hour work week responsibilities include maintaining and growing a customer base through effective sales strategies; interacting with customers, prospects, and internal staff on products and services; completing administrative duties such as conducting surveys and preparing proposals, scheduling sales calls, and developing sales reports. Candidates will be required to travel regularly throughout the Binghamton and surrounding areas to develop and maintain business relationships and demonstrate products at customer locations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
• High school diploma or equivalent required. • Associate’s degree in business, marketing, or related field preferred. • Minimum of three-five years outside, industrial sales experience. • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. • Must have at the time of hire, and maintain throughout employment, a valid NYS drivers’ license free of major infractions. • Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals. • Ability to analyze and solve problems. • Must be able to gather data, analyze information, and prepare reports. • Ability to identify and/or follow up sales leads and referrals. • Ability to operate a computer to send/receive email messages, post information to a database or spreadsheet, and perform basic word processing and/or data entry. • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative in meeting sales and revenue goals. • Ability to travel throughout the area on a daily basis.
