For over 26 years, The Growing Place has sustained a unique learning community for children, their families and teachers. We are a full day, year round, NAEYC accredited early childhood education program for working parents. Our socio constructivist curriculum is based on relationships and we are inspired by the schools in Reggio Emilia. We invite children and teachers to advocate for their right to think critically and question the learning process. The Growing Place has two sites in Santa Monica.

Site Director Position at The Growing Place Marine Park:
Directly accountable for operational aspects our Marine Park center, ensuring quality care and education for 52 infants, toddlers and preschoolers, a staff of 20 and over 100 parents, annual achievement of NAEYC standards, ensuring Title 22 compliance, hiring and supervision of teachers and staff, budget, grant compliance, fundraising.

The Site Director must posses a variety of skills that include leadership development, communication, program management, fiscal control, NAEYC standards, collaborative program planning with Ocean Park Site Director and Executive Director, as well as the recruitment, training and evaluation of teachers, staff and volunteers. The Site Director must have the physical capacity to model and participate in a variety of areas necessary for day-to-day operations.
• BA in Child Development, ECE, or related field, MA preferred
• Demonstrated collaboration with teachers; coordinating, mentoring, and supervising
• Positive experiences in establishing warm and meaningful interactions, and problem solving skills with parents and teachers

• Ability to support teachers’ understanding of and learning about socio constructivist teaching and The Growing Place values within a group context

• Proven ability to lead professional development efforts, support teachers and sustain an environment that promotes lifelong learning for teachers, children and parents

• Ability to balance the pedagogical, relational, and administrative responsibilities
