Vee Williams Entertainment is seeking motivated interns and college students to work with several of our non-profit clients to create fund raising campaigns, coordinate events and solicit corporate sponsors to help fund our Sack Full of Dreams Non Profit Performing Arts Program. Sack Full of Dreams is a program being offered to at risk youth, foster youth and homeless youth in the inner city and Inland Empire. Our goal is to nurture the mind, body, spirit and natural talents of these youth and teach them how to tap into their natural abilities to create a better and more meaningful life, despite their circumstances. Our experience with prior non-profit clients has lead to many transformational experiences for youth who had previously given up on life and now have a new passion and purpose for living.
If you are a PR, Communications or Marketing major, this is your opportunity to gain real world experience in public relations, promotions, event planning and more. Most importantly, this is an opportunity to be a part of a movement where lives are transformed and inner city youth get the opportunity to be seen, heard, acknowledged and validated.
Responsibilities: *Provide direct support to the Program Director *Public Relations - Assist in writing and distributing press releases to media to promote events and create community awareness. Assist in communications with the general public by email, phone or in person
*Fundraising – Assist in creating fundraising campaigns, researching and contacting corporate sponsors and donors. Conduct research on communications and fundraising best practices, identify current trends in philanthropy
*Event Planning – Assist in planning media events, community events and various outreach programs
Applicant Requirements: *Applicants much have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as a functioning knowledge of word processing within Microsoft Word, and developing spreadsheets and storing information (within Microsoft Excel).
*Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills
*Candidate must be willing to commit to working at least 10 hours a week
*Applicants must be fluent in English, both written and orally.
*Applicants should be comfortable speaking in public settings and communicating with the public.
*Applicants must work well both independently and as a part of a team. Successful candidates will demonstrate a history of accepting direction, taking initiative, and working well with both supervisors and peers.
COLLEGE CREDIT IS AVAILABLE. COMPENSATION IS AVAILABLE BASED ON 10% OF ALL FUNDS RAISED. FUTURE GROWTH WITH OUR ORGANIZATION IS DESIRED AND COMPENSATION WILL ADJUST ACCORDINGLY.
