Are you a person who has experience in analyzing blue prints, specifications, and proposals? We have an exciting position open for an Estimator for a prestigious client open right now. The company is located in Kansas City, MO and will be a full time position
The position requirements will be as follows:
• Evaluate project risk and assist in determining value of risk
• Review project estimate before senior management final review
• Assignment of projects to estimator for takeoff.
• Compute cost factors and preparing estimates, organize, and schedule work; prepare bids; selecting Vendors or Subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness.
• Assist with research to establish accurate hourly productivity rates or other related cost data.
• Consult with Subcontractors, Vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates, and resolve issues.
• Interface with other associated personnel to gain support and commitment to the cost estimates.
• Assist with analyzing completed projects, comparing the estimated costs to actual costs, and determining reasons for any discrepancies.
• Organize and manage the centralized historical database and help ensure the data is being utilized effectively.
• Provide improvement recommendations to estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
• Develop and maintain client relationships during bid process.
• Review and verify final bid summary
• Perform research identifying trends in the market that lead to cost reductions and improved processes.
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction

In order to perform the Estimator position successfully the candidate will have to demonstrate the following skills:
• Oral communication – the individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
• Problem Solving – the individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
• Judgment – the individual displays willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment and makes timely decisions.
• Planning/Organizing – the individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
• Demonstrate organizational skills and the ability to coordinate data, plans, and personnel.
• Demonstrate detail oriented work methods that maximize efficiency and productivity.
• Demonstrate the ability to utilize technology including: MS Office, estimating hardware and software and Company proprietary software.
• Demonstrate effective time management skills and the ability to meet or exceed deadlines.
• Demonstrate problem solving skills and the ability to identify issues, and seek appropriate assistance when required.
• Demonstrate strong motivational and leadership skills to ensure that bids are supported by all team members.
• Demonstrate ability to extrapolate knowledge gained from lessons learned and apply to future bids

The Estimator position requires a 4 year construction related degree or equivalent technical training and minimum of 5 years related experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Please contact A-1CAREERs if you are interested in the Estimator position.
