Responsibilities of Position: - Responsible for the overall planning, budgeting, staffing, performance, and operation of the department in conjunction with the director as well as performance and annual review of direct reports. - Responsible for the overall planning, budgeting, staffing, performance, and operation of the department in conjunction with the director as well as performance and annual review of direct reports - Manages operations within the budget. - Serves as representative for all customers. - Acts as liaison to other hospital departments. - Provides productivity oversight and review. Works with Charge Nurses to achieve productivity standards. - Executes and provides two-way communication of our mission, vision, values, and strategic plan for the department (staff meetings, rounds, etc.). - Demonstrates models, applies, and assures healing healthcare philosophy permeates all interactions, care and service. - Develops and implements annual plan including goals for unit with director and supervisor. - Assist with quality, customer service and regulatory (JCAHO/CMS/etc.) compliance oversight: EMS – Receipt, assignment, tracking and trending, delegation, oversight trending of quality and financial indicators including LOS with case manager support.
Responsible for resource management: - Appropriate and sufficient equipment and supplies are available, complies with Human Resource processes, controls and maintains position control including the addition and deletion of positions related to budget and human resource needs, budget management and development for unit as directed by director, staffing and scheduling (control of master schedule; ETO & LOA approval; light duty scheduling) delegates related clerical functions to admin assistant. - Provides leadership development. Responsible for performance and annual review of direct reports.
Experience Required: - Minimum of five years nursing experience required, of which three years should be progressively more responsible experience relating to a management role. Experience relating to a specialty area of nursing preferred. ICU experience required.
Specific Skills Required: - Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current RN licensure with the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
Education Required: - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN degree or bachelor’s degree in management or other health related field; or willingness to work towards a bachelors degree within a specified amount of time required. Masters degree in nursing, management or related field preferred.
