This course was designed to produce efficient, proficient, and skilled transcriptionists for digital court reporters. Computer and word processing skills are developed throughout the course. The main focus is teaching students the skills required of a competent transcriptionist for court reporters. The course is a development plan with exposure to actual field situations. Students learn formatting, parentheticals, Q&A, colloquy, Word Perfect, and punctuation.
Court reporters send their audio via the internet. The transcriptionist sends the transcript back via email. Transcripts are typed in Word or WordPerfect depending on the court reporter.
