Black Girl Ugly is an Annual performance project where three women consider the impact of growing up a black woman in a world that prefers white skin.

Black girl ugly began as a confession for the three actors that made up the cast: a confession of the moment that they bought into the false belief that black women are inferior to white women.

Each year the actresses participate workshop/rehearsal period where they translate their own life experiences into scenes that eventually become the meat of the play.

Any potential cast members should know that Black girl ugly is alternative theater making. The players must have very strong improvisational skills. I am looking for three black actresses that are between the ages 25 and 40. They must be able to sing and be comfortable with choreography.

This is a non-equity production.

There will be a $500 STIPEND and a required showings in Brooklyn public schools in the fall (dates tba)

This is a dramedy. So bring the lightness. Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in.
