Our client is a 109 bed state of the art inpatient facility near Buffalo, NY. The Hospital has a vacancy for a CRNA in a hospital employed position. They offer a very competitive benefit package of $150,000 plus bonus and full benefits and generous vacation. The surgical suite has 4 Operating rooms, 1 Endoscopy room, 1 Cystoscopy room, and 1 C section room. 2 BC Anesthesiologists, 3 CRNAs, and 1 Anesthesia tech. Call is 1:4.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Provides safe and comprehensive anesthesia care to patients during surgical procedures, pain relief and airway management, provides anesthesia coverage for cardiac and respiratory arrests, obstetrics, Cardioversion, x-ray procedures and emergency room treatment. Administers anesthetic agents and adjunctive therapeutics, monitors physiological responses and takes corrective action to maintain or stabilize patients condition and provide resuscitative care.
QUALIFICATIONS Education: Registered CRNA with current license to practice in the State of Pennsylvania. Graduate of an American Association of Nurse Anesthetists approved program of Anesthesia for Nurses. Certified, or eligible for certification, by the council on Certification. Current re-certification by the Council on Re-certification. Experience: Must be experienced in the fundamental techniques of anesthesia administration. Must have a thorough knowledge of operating room procedures. Licensure/Certification: Registered Nurse with current license to practice in the State of PA. Graduate of an American Association of Nurse anesthetists approved program of Anesthesia for Nurses. Certified or eligible for certification by the Council on Certification. Current re-certification by the Council on Re-Certification. Skills Required: Must be experienced in the fundamental techniques of anesthesia administration. Must have a thorough knowledge of operating room procedures.
Organizes, assembles and checks equipment and supplies for anticipated and emergency anesthetics; inspects and tests the anesthesia machine and inspects equipment to ensure it is ready, available and clean. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and education appropriate to the age of the patients served (newborn to geriatric). Identifies, interviews and evaluates patients prior to anesthesia, reassures patients to alleviate anxiety and ensure patient confidence and cooperation. Checks patient records for accuracy. Formulates an anesthetic plan, including: anesthetic agents and techniques for the patient; considers patient status, and type and extent of surgery, interprets lab values, chest x-ray and EKG findings. Communicates and coordinates anesthetic plan, patients status and reaction to the anesthetic with the Anesthesiologist, Surgeon, or Physician in charge. Administers and maintains all types of anesthesia. Performs all techniques applicable to the delivery, maintenance and monitoring of anesthesia, to include direct laryngoscopy, endotracheal intubations an radial artery cannulization. During anesthesia, monitors, charts and interprets vital signs and other appropriate indicators, treating changes appropriately to maintain homeostasis and desired anesthetic level: provides resuscitative care, including; fluid therapy, airway management and ventilation, ensures patient safety through proper operative positioning. At the appropriate time, terminates anesthesia, administers reversal agents as necessary, prepares for and transports patient to the PACU: transfers care of the patient to one who has been properly trained in post anesthesia care, giving report and remaining until the patients vital signs have been taken and recorded. Participates as a member of the Cardiac Arrest Team and assists in resuscitative efforts when available. Maintains a high level of mandatory continuing education for re-certification and to remain current in all aspects of anesthesia theory and technique, incorporates into practice generally accepted new techniques and knowledge. Makes recommendations to immediate supervisor concerning the improvement of methods and procedures: works cooperatively with other persons in a team effort to accomplish hospital and departmental objectives. Performs other related duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as may be required to meet emergency situations.
