JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Director and/or Assistant Director manages the pharmacy distribution system, pharmacy information systems and automation or procurement and inventory control of pharmaceuticals and supplies. Ensures that personnel are accountable and in compliance with all applicable regulations and constraints. Job Relationships: A. Responsible to: Director B. Assignments received from: Director and Assistant Director. C. Positions supervised: 1. lead pharmacists 2. staff pharmacists 3. technicians 4. technician assistants 5. purchasing techs 6. Data management specialist 7. pyxis coordinator 8. inventory technicians
SUPERVISION * Monitors and maintains compliance with department policies and procedures. Reviews policies and procedures annually and revises as necessary. Maintains appropriate staffing levels and monitors overtime to support corporate and departmental budgets. Integrates a focus on ensuring patient safety when designing and implementing new processes.
PURCHASING: *Oversees the purchasing, receiving and distributing of all pharmaceuticals, IV Solutions and supplies. Responsible for proper storage of all pharmaceuticals and supplies. Supervises and trains purchasing and inventory technicians. Responsible for all aspects of inventory control.
*Prioritizes and organizes workflow so that pharmacy automation and computer systems operate effectively and efficiently. Responsible for maintenance of billing files and audits of the billing process and information systems. Supervises the data management specialist and pyxis coordinator.
TEAMWORK AND COMMUNICATION
*Models and promotes teamwork within the department. Assists and supports the members to meet our customerís needs by ensuring efficient, effective utilization of the medication distribution system. Demonstrates effective communication skills and maintains the interpersonal skills required to lead others. Promotes open communications between pharmacy and ancillary departments.
CLINICAL AND TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
*Maintains clinical and professional competency, according to department policies, procedures and protocols as appropriate for the age of patient(s) served.
Qualifications 1. Bachelorís Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an accredited college of pharmacy 2. NC pharmacist license 3. Two years as a hospital pharmacist. Previous supervisory experience preferred
