Flexible position with no benefits at this time.
May work anywhere from 0 to 40 hrs per week.

Supervises NA-2 employees in one or more of the following duties: Cleans offices, storerooms, corridors, stairways, and other areas. Sweeps, dry mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors, using brooms, mops, lightweight vacuum cleaners, and lightweight floor scrubbers and buffers. Dusts, waxes, and polishes furniture. Empties ashtrays and wastebaskets. Washes walls, windows, and blinds that can be reached without climbing ladders or scaffolds. Cleans, disinfects, and deodorizes lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls. Cleans mirrors, sinks, and water fountains. Dusts ledges and woodwork. Replaces deodorizes, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap. Maintains a stock of cleaning materials and equipment and notifies supervisor when more are needed. Prepares work schedules. Instruct employees on proper methods of cleaning and maintaining the various areas. Ensures security of MCCS Activities during janitor working hours other than Activity operating hours. Maintains and controls door keys. Develops and ensures implementation of an activity safety program in accordance with the Base Safety Program. Conducts safety meetings at least quarterly. Advises employees of available safety regulations, instructions, materials and equipment. Promptly reports workplace accidents to the Human Resources Office. Ensures safety training is provided to employees. Complies with OSHA standards and takes action to correct unsafe or unhealthy working conditions. Ensures employees understand safety infractions that can result in disciplinary actions, and follows through with appropriate action. Ensures minimal loss of duty by complying with “Return To Work” program initiatives, and following up on employee well being. Supervises employees to include: assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel actions, completing performance reviews and signing timecards, training employees, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program, and prevention of sexual harassment. Must be alert to alcohol abuse, and take appropriate action. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Must possess leadership ability and be able to clearly communicate general and specific instructions. The work requires knowledge and experience of custodial work. Must be able to perform simple math and administrative functions accurately, and adhere to organizational policy. Ability to use common cleaning tools and light weight vacuum cleaners. Must possess a valid CA Driver’s License.

Works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Custodial Supervisor and Custodial Supervisor. Completes work assignments without direction and carries out assignments independently. Exerts light physical effort in doing such tasks as using vacuum cleaners and dry mops; running lightweight powered scrubbers and buffers; continually standing, bending, stooping, and reaching; frequently lifting and emptying wastebaskets and frequently pushing carts. Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance. Work is performed indoors, in areas which normally have adequate heat, light and ventilation. Work involves exposure to dirt and disagreeable odors. Capable of performing light manual labor and the climbing of ladders/scaffolding. May be required to handle hazardous materials/substances. Normally, there is a chance only of minor injuries.
