Austin Groups for the Elderly, an Austin-based non-profit social services agency, has received a grant to manage a coalition of partner agencies in the Central Texas area to conduct a series of educational classes for informal, unpaid family caregivers. We are looking for a self-motivated project coordinator to lead this two year effort. The duties of the position include recruiting and coordinating representatives from partner agencies who will be trained to successfully co-lead a series of “CaregiverU” classes. The project coordinator will be responsible for the oversight and management of this project to ensure that the maximum number of caregivers receive the highest level of training from the selected partner agencies in a timely fashion and within budget guidelines.
Knowledge and Education: A four year college degree or completion of a specialized course study in training or project management or an equivalent combination of experience and education in managing adult education projects. Knowledge of techniques and philosophies of adult education, especially for older adults. Knowledge of the social services industry and related organizations in the Central Texas region. Knowledge of the fundamentals of project management including planning, organization, and directing staff, volunteers, and partners.
Skills: Excellent communication, both written and oral, and strong public speaking and presentation skills. Strong PC skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and the use of the Internet. Ability to operate related computer software and business equipment including telephone, VCR/DVD player, overhead projector, and other related training equipment. Ability to handle multiple priorities and complete tasks and projects in accordance with stated deadlines.
Experience: Two or more years of similar or a related experience in training or project management, especially in a social services setting. Minimum of one year of facilitation, course delivery, or other public speaking experience to groups of all sizes. Experience with project management including budgeting, purchasing, expense control, and financial reporting. Experience with leading collaborative efforts involving multiple partner agencies.
Abilities: Ability to travel up to 100 miles to deliver training or coaching. Must be self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills. Must be detail-oriented. Must use diplomacy and tact when dealing with partner agencies, volunteers, and the general public, especially older adults. Ability to recruit and motivate community members and community organizations. Professional appearance and attitude is a must.
Specifications: This position is grant dependent for a two year period ending December 31, 2012. Position is full-time, exempt. Work schedule may include some evenings and weekend commitments. Salary range is $24,000 - $26,000 with health insurance benefits. U.S. work permit required.
