We are looking for an experienced “Hands-On” Principal Mechanical Engineer with a history of New Product Introduction. (Preferably in FDA Class I or II Medical Devices.) The successful candidate will be able to integrate with a multi-functional team in order to deliver product updates and new products through a rigorous development and product delivery process. You will be representing the department and participating in cross functional project teams concentrating on new product development with minimal sustaining engineering responsibilities. Mainly, you will be developing technical solutions to design problems while interfacing with vendors and in-house resources managing out-sourced product design via design reviews, audits and prototype analysis. Your designs will involve both the component and system levels of engineering. Responsibilities will also include debugging and problem resolution with prototype and production materials and stack-tolerance analysis of static and kinematic assemblies. You will be developing retrofit components improving existing designs both in production and in the field. You will be working closely with manufacturing. You will be interfacing and working with individuals at all levels and backgrounds and will be mulit-tasking on a daily basis.
The basic knowledge and experience necessary for your success
• A solid understanding of Engineering Fundamentals • Having been involved in successfully launched products and projects • Several years of experience in part design involving plastics, sheet metal and injection molding • Ability to interface and work with all levels of internal and external customer and business needs • A strong team player with the ability to think and work independently • Willingness and ability to test, analyze and solve advanced technical problems • A good listener with the ability to present your own ideas in a clear and concise manner • Ability to multi-task and re-set priorities as may be necessary “Must Have” Qualifications/Experience • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field • 5+ years related work experience with 7+ years experience preferred • Solid “Hands-on” Design experience via Solidworks and/or Cosmos with the great emphasis on Solidworks • Specific design experience involving electromechanical parts and systems, sensors (such as optical sensors) and/or design of manufacturing equipment. • 5+ years designing and supporting the production of mass-produced products and components • 3+ years experience designing sheet metal components • Strong Documentation skills with the ability to clearly present verbally to peer and superior level individuals in the organization at varying levels.
“Would be Nice” Qualifications/Experience
• FDA Class I and II medical device experience • Strong FDA medical device documentation and oversight experience (510K, etc.) • Ability to mentor, train, direct and coach others utilizing your technical expertise
Compensation: $85K - $102K plus competitive benefits and bonus
