The mission of Carson Valley Children’s Aid (CVCA) is to make a measurable difference in the lives of children and families by providing hope, support and services that also assist their neighborhoods to become safer and more stable. CVCA utilizes the skills and talents of its Staff and Board to create and sustain neighborhood-based systems of care and education for children, youth and families providing the majority of services available to children, youth and families within the child welfare, behavioral health, drug and alcohol, and prevention arenas.
CVCA is now operating with a budget of more than $33,000,000 and a staff of over 450 employees. The agency provides services from nine distinct neighborhood locations, including six in Philadelphia and three in Montgomery County. CVCA is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development is responsible for planning, implementing and managing the organization’s development and community relation goals. The Director of Development works with the Board of Directors, Advisory Council, Executive Director and Leadership teams to expand the organization’s revenue base to enhance services for children and families.
Major Job Responsibilities are as follows:
• Developing and directing comprehensive major gift giving efforts • Preparing an annual plan for soliciting contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations • Working with the organization’s Executive Director, Board of Directors and Advisory Council to expand the organization’s funding base • Developing and managing the development budget • Supporting and managing the Agency’s Development Committee • Assisting in organizing and running fundraising events and cultivation activities • Preparing government grants and funding opportunities, including the Educational Improvement Tax Credit, Community Block Grants and Workforce Development • Identifying potential fundraising projects, needs and strategies including general operating support, program additions, building renovations and capital needs • Coordinating production of newsletters, annual reports, media relations, website and external publications • Managing key relationships with constituents • Managing and expanding the database, donor stewardship, and communications. • Coordinating the fundraising activities with other programs and staff • Managing the Development Department’s staff and work assignments
• College degree is required, an advanced degree is preferred • Minimum of 5 years experience in major gifts fund raising, and a proven track record managing development programs • Experience managing staff and volunteers • Strong written, communication, organization and leadership skills • Able to represent the mission and programs of the agency • Commitment to the organization’s mission, values and success • Media and public relation skills and experience
