The Urban Youth Empowerment of America Inc. is a community-based nonprofit 501(c)(3) youth development organization that focuses on enhancing and nurturing the growth, development, and advancement of youth in economically and socially challenged urban communities. We are seeking to fill several Board of Directors positions A.S.A.P.
Currently our organization is seeking mature, serious individuals that will help us carry out our mission of introducing a better way of life and living to disadvantaged, at-risk youth in economically and socially challenged urban communities through comprehensive programs and services designed to empower, inspire, motivate and nurture a drive for excellence. You must be professional and have a strong passion for working with youth.
The board will be responsible for overall policy and direction of the organization, delegating responsibilities of day-to-day operations to the staff and committees, and will play a vital role in the overall success of the organization. The board receives no compensation other than reasonable expenses.
The organization is currently in its infancy and scheduled to be fully operating by January 2012, so at this time we need help with viewing documents, helping to plan fundraising events and pre-opening activities, program ideas, and assisting with different tasks associated with starting an organization.
This opportunity is great for retirees, grad students, educators, and individuals passionate about helping youth. Some skills beneficial to the board include: PUBLIC RELATIONS, MARKETING/PROMOTIONS, EVENT PLANNING, FUNDRAISING, CLERICAL, GRAPHIC DESIGN.....
