Miles Technologies is a leader in developing software systems for businesses. A crucial part of our software development lifecycle is the discovery and analysis phase, where high level business requirements and system functionality is discovered and documented. This stage is vital to the success of the project as it sets the stage for all other phases of the software development lifecycle. As a Business Analyst at Miles Technologies, you will have the opportunity to meet and communicate with business owners, entrepreneurs and high level business managers in all industries. You will take a lead role in these meetings to uncover the true needs of the business and help translate those needs into a high level systems requirements document. In this role, you will also work with Systems Designers, User Inverface Designers, Project Managers as well as software development staff.
Responsibilities: * Gather information on the high-level goals, objectives, and needs of the organization as related to the topic areas agreed upon prior to commencing Discovery. * Identify current solutions, pain points & potential areas where the software system can improve the performance of the organization or processes involved. * Compile an overview of what functionality and general solutions the system should provide. * Identify the primary processes which will be handled or touched on by the system & basic overview of each process. * Identify complexities within the business processes that will need to be handled in the system. * Determine actual solution(s) based on needs & analysis of potential solutions vs. requirements as well as budget. * Recommend and design any adjustments to business processes overall for improved effectiveness (within and outside the system). * Gather a more detailed description of how the system will handle the processes described in the overview. * Identify data migration, customization and integration requirements. * Assess current infrastructure & general needs & plan for deploying solution
Requirements: *Bachelors degree in a related field such as computer science, MIS, engineering, business, or accounting *Ability to fully comprehend both functional and business requirements for software systems *Experience with database structures and database design methodology (Access, MS SQL, Oracle) *Experience with design of software systems, preferably web-based applications (ASP, ASP .NET, PHP, Java) *Understanding of business flow and procedures and the ability to translate these into functional and efficient software solutions
$60,000-$80,000 based on experience full benefits package
