Active Seniors’ Options, Inc. a non-for-profit corporation based in Champaign, Illinois, is looking for a part-time Instructional Technologist to assist with federally supported distance learning initiatives related to Caregivers of the Elderly. Salary commensurate with experience and ability to contribute to the project. The work is expected to average 10 to 20 hours per week depending on project demands.
The project, which is funded through June 2012, has several training-related initiatives. One thrust is to identify existing materials and to develop online learning modules in topics related to caring for the elderly. Example topics include Physocology and Biology of Aging; Communications; Substance Abuse; End-of-Life Issues; Dementia, Depression, and Delirium; Screening and Assessment; Ethical Issues of Aging; and Pain and Medication Management. Materials consist primarily of videotaped presentations, PowerPoint slides, and supporting materials.

Duties • Research, identify, and evaluate existing online materials on priority topics. • Assist in the production of new instructional materials for online delivery. • Design meaningful assessments, interactions, and supplementary materials for online delivery. • Actively promote websites that contain instructional materials.
Desired Qualifications • Knowledge of topics relating to geriatrics, experience interacting with the elderly. • Experience in all areas described above. • Experience in education and training. • Knowledge of current video, web-based database, distance learning, and web store technologies. • Organizational skills. • Ability to take initiative wisely and move projects to completion. • Experience in marketing and public relations a plus.
